Trained at the Kunstschule Westend in Frankfurt am Main and at the Akademie der Bildenden Künste in Munich, Germany.

He has had about thirty solo exhibitions in Greece, Germany, Sweden and Denmark, among others in Sweden at Galerie Gröna Paletten in Stockholm, Stadsgalleriet in Halmstad, Galerie Kvarnen in Sundborn, Kulturhuset in Orsa, Galleri Astley in Uttersberg and Galleri Hörnan in Falun.

In Denmark he has exhibited at the Galerie Krebsen in Copenhagen and at the City Hall in Løgstør and in Germany at the Galerie Neuhausen in Munich and in Greece at the galleries ORA, Agathi and Politeia in Athens and the Goethe Institute in Athens as well as at galleries in Nauplion and Pelion.

Jannis Karydakis has participated in various group exhibitions at galleries and institutions in Germany, Yugoslavia, Greece, Denmark and Sweden.
