Leif Ericson
born 1927 in Mölndal, living in Stockholm
Studies: 1946-49 Slöjdföreningen's school in Gothenburg for Nils Wedel, 1950-55 Valand's art school for Endre Nemes.
About 30 solo exhibitions since the debut at the Konsthallen in Gothenburg in 1960, then among others at Konstnärshuset, Galerie Blanche and Grafiska Sällskapet in Stockholm, Olle Olssonhuset in Solna, Gallery 54 and the Gothenburg Art Association in Gothenburg, the museums in Luleå and Eskilstuna, Galerie Gammelstrand in Copenhagen and Fredrikshamn Art Museum. Also separately at Galleri Pictor 2002.
Together with other "nemes-students", Leif Ericson has participated in collective and traveling exhibitions that have been shown in Sweden as well as Norway, Germany and Holland. e.g. "New Valand" in 1957, "Valand, an art school" in 1970 and "Valand, Gothenburg-Europe, Generation 47-55" at the Kulturhuset in Stockholm in 1988. In total, Leif Ericson has participated in around 30 group exhibitions, including circus and jazz as a theme.
The public commissions have become many over the years with the first commission for Nya Ullevi in Gothenburg in 1960 - a stucco lustro painting called "Different paths". The assignments have concerned schools, universities, hospitals, health centers, cultural centers and other public buildings. As further examples, the tile wall "Signs from lighthouse to beach" at the Faculty of Humanities in Gothenburg and "Ultra Marine" at Gustafsviksbadet in Örebro can be mentioned.
Leif Ericson is represented at the National Museum and Moderna Museet in Stockholm, the Gothenburg Museum of Art and the museums in Linköping, Malmö, Borås and Laholm's drawing museum, as well as purchased by various municipal cultural committees and county councils.
