Minako Masui

Born 1940 in Yokohama, Japan. Moved to Sweden in 1962. Lives in Malmö.

Educated at Forum graphics school 1984-89 in Malmö.


Member of the Graphic Society, The Japan Artist Association, Grafikens Hus, Grafik i Väst and Konstnärsgruppen Aura.


Minako Masui is represented at the Moderna Museet in Stockholm, the art museums in Gothenburg, Västerås, Uppsala, Norrköping, Ystad, Eskilstuna and Sörmland's Art Museum and the Regional Museum in Kristianstad. Outside of Sweden, she is represented in Japan at the Kuso-no-Mori Art Museum in Kyushu and the Swedish Embassy in Tokyo, in Finland at the Museum Center Vapriikki in Tampere and the Alvar Aalto Museum in Jyväskylä, in Poland at The National Museum in Krakow and in Ukraine at Kharkiv Art Museum, Kharkiv.


She has had close to a hundred solo exhibitions since the first exhibition in 1987, most of them in Sweden but also in Japan, Finland, Denmark and the Netherlands. She has participated in approximately two hundred collective exhibitions at home and abroad, including in graphics biennials and triennials in Sweden, Germany, Poland, India, Japan, the Netherlands, the Soviet Union, France, Spain.


Minako Masui has also been hired for public decorations, including for the 100 m long stone wall "Åbrådden" in Råå, Helsingborg and "Vindens Portar" in Hässleholm.
