Robert Greenhalf

B. 1950. Lives in Tonbridge, Kent, England.

Works with woodcut, drypoint, watercolor and oil. Author of books on animal and bird life.


He studied at Eastbourne and Maidstone Colleges of Art, graduating in 1971 with a "Diploma in Art and Design in Graphics".


Works as much as possible directly in front of the subjects, which are often nature, animals in nature, especially birds and domestic and domesticated animals. He is a member of the "Society of Wildlife Artists" and the "Royal Society of British Artists" He is also a member of a group, the "Artist for Nature Foundation" which works to draw attention to endangered natural areas. He then collaborated in the books "Portrait of a living Marsh", "Artists for Nature Visit Extremadura" and "Sails, Wind and Meadow Birds".


During a period of four years he worked on the documentation of the birdlife in the Parc des Ecrins in the French Alps resulting in illustrations for the "Atlas of the Invertebrates of the Parc des Ecrins". He has also worked on the project "The Parc Natural Regional de Briere" in Brittany.


He has had several solo exhibitions in Great Britain, Ireland, France, Holland, Switzerland, Spain, USA and Canada.


Robert Greenhalf has written the book "Towards the Sea" an illustrated diary of a typical working year and together with the French artist and illustrator Noelle Le Guilluozic he has written and illustrated the book "Baie de Somme & Rye Bay" which is a visual exploration of both the seaside birdhouses on either side of the English Channel.


Robert Greenhalf participated with woodcuts at Pictor's graphics exhibition "Grafisk Vår V" March 2015.
