Stoimen Stoilov
b 1944 in Varna, Bulgaria.
Graphic designer, draftsman and painter. Graduated from the art academy in Sofia in 1973. Initiator and leader of the international graphics biennale in Varna during the years 1979-91. Leading artist in the so-called Varna school. Has won a wide range of awards at other international graphics awards.
Now living in Vienna and since 1997 an Austrian citizen. He has had solo exhibitions in a number of countries - Australia, Bulgaria, France, Finland, Italy, Japan, Canada, Luxenburg, Norway, Russia, Switzerland, Slovakia, Sweden, Czech Republic, Germany and the USA.
He is represented at, among others, the Albertina Graphics and Drawing Museum in Vienna, the Landesmuseum St Pölten, Austria, the National Art Gallery in Sofia and the Museum of Art in Varna, Bulgaria, the Bibiothèque National in Paris, the Museum of Art Villa Merkel, Esslingen and the Museum of Graphic Art of the Schreiner Foundation, Bad Steben in Germany and The Library of Congress in Washington DC, New York Public Librarym Princeton University, Yale University, Florida State University and Florida Atlantic University.
Stoilov has had several solo exhibitions at Galleri Pictor, for example at the opening of the gallery's new exhibition building in Munka Ljungby (April 2000) and then separately in 2005.
